What a Weird Subject!
My recently completed painting "Powerful" features a massive power structure set against a beautiful sunset. The inspiration for this painting came from a photo I took from my car while returning from a vacation to Mammoth. There is a stretch of I-15 that passes a lot of nothing except for these gigantic power structures. Against a setting sun, they actually looked beautiful. The complexity, size and symmetry of these towers was awesome, and to me they resembled metal giants holding up electric cables in both hands, marching across an otherwise vacant landscape. Set against the backdrop of a beautiful setting sun, I thought the scene was an interesting illustration of "power" and the meaning that word might convey to a viewer - the natural power of the sun and man's attempt to harness electric power for our everyday use. After the world goes totally solar and these towers are obsolete, perhaps they will become works of art in themselves!
