About the Artist
Award-winning artist Sherry Roper took her first painting class in 2001 and art has been her passion ever since. Sherry’s artistic studies since then have been largely self-directed and her work spans more than 20 years.
She began working in watercolor, with an emphasis on floral scenes and botanical studies. An interest in classical realism led her to study oil painting several years later. Today she works exclusively in oil, painting still life and landscapes with a focus on realism, dramatic light, and exquisite detail. Inspired by the nuances of nature, she creates paintings that celebrate the beauty all around us with a sensuous, timeless quality.
Sherry’s paintings hang in private collections nationally and internationally, and have been widely exhibited in local, national, and international exhibitions, with many winning awards. Her work has been published in two editions of the Splash: Best of Watercolor series of books (Splash 16: Exploring Texture and Splash 17: Inspiring Subjects) published by North Light Books, and has been featured in American Art Collector Magazine.
A California native, Sherry maintains a studio in her home in San Diego, where her garden produces many of the subjects of her still life paintings.
